54 Life - Transforming Questions

If the quality of our life depends on the decisions we make. And the quality of our decisions is largely determined by the quality of the questions we ask, what are the questions that could lead us to the greatest breakthrough in life?

Here is a (never complete) collection of questions I believe can assist you in moving forward and transforming your life. You don't have to try and answer all of them. Instead, feel free to browse through the list and contemplate the questions that resonate with you at this moment.

The questions might be used also as journal prompters and in practising meditation.
  1. What do you stand for?
  2. What person do you wish to become?
  3. If thoughts shape reality, what would you like to think about that would help you move forward?
  4. If you'd have to do the impossible with nothing, where would you start?
  5. Who are you without the doing? Who are you when you just are?
  6. If you could re-imagine and transform their life just by visualizing and thinking, what would your thoughts and visualization be?
  7. If there is magic in believing and oxygen in possibility, how much do you believe and are you allowing yourself to see possibilities?
  8. If everything in life was always great, what would you be thinking about? What would you be doing?
  9. What do you need to do in order to re-gain and develop your sense of wonder?
  10. How would you live differently if you had nothing to prove to anybody? 
  11. What would you work on if you were forced to do it for the next 20 years?
  12. How much of your day to day life do you spend being fully present in the moment?
  13. Are you experimenting enough for luck and serendipity to strike?
  14. What are you taking seriously right now that doesn't deserve that kind of attention?
  15. If you knew, you'd live forever in great health and happiness, what would your mind focus on?
  16. We all tell ourselves a story about our life. How much of yours is your own?
  17. What are you taking for granted now that you should not?
  18. What is the smallest thing you can do right now that would have a disproportinately positive impact leading to a breakthrough?
  19. In what way do you underestimate yourself? How about overestimating yourself?
  20. What opportunities are you neglecting that could transform your life?
  21. What do you believe stands between you and your complete happiness? Is it your thoughts, or something or somebody else?
  22. When was the last time that you enternained a new thought?
  23. What are you putting off out of fear?
  24. What is it costing you - financially, emotionally, and physically - to postpone action?
  25. What are you waiting for?
  26. What would you do if there were no way you could fail? If you were 10 times smarter than the rest of the world?
  27. What would you do, day to day, if you had 100 million in the bank?
  28. What would make you most excited to wake up in the morning to another day, if you had 100 million in the bank?
  29. What are four dreams that would change it all?
  30. What makes you angry about the state of the world?
  31. What are you most afraid of for the next generation, whether you have children or not?
  32. What makes you happiest in your life? How can you help others have the same?
  33. What are you good at?
  34. What could you be best at?
  35. What makes you happy?
  36. What excites you?
  37. What makes you feel accomplished and good about yourself?
  38. What are you most proud of having accomplished in your life? Can you repeat this or further develop it?
  39. What do you enjoy sharing or experiencing with other people?
  40. What is one goal, if completed, that could change everything?
  41. What is the most urgent thing right now that you feel you must or should do?
  42. Can you let the urgent fail - even for a day  to get to the next milestone for your potential life-changing tasks?
  43. What's been on your to-do list the longest? Start it first thing in the morning and don't allow interruptions or lunch until you finish.
  44. What are the operating principles of my life? That is, what is the philosophy that guides me?
  45. When I'm in physical or emotional pain, what are some of the best things I can do for myself? What can I do to override it?
  46. In what areas of my life am I trading authenticity for safety, or what appears to be safety?
  47. How am I censoring what I really think or feel?
  48. What’s behind my hesitancy to set personal boundaries, both in general and in particular situations?
  49. In what way do I lessen others to make myself feel better?
  50. In what way do I put others on a pedestal (sometimes to quickly) that leads to unrealistic expectations from these people and frustration on my part?
  51. How has being "realistic" or "responsible" kept you from the life you want?
  52. How has doing what you "should" resulted in subpar experiences or regret for not having done something else?
  53. Look at what you're currently doing and ask yourself, "What would happen if I did the opposite of the people around me? What will I sacrifice if I continue on this track for 5, 10, 20 years?
  54. If you could do only one thing, gun to your head, for the next 40 years,  what would you be doing?
